We work in partnership with a wide range of local stakeholders, organisations and services to support not only our children, but also parents and the wider community. By offering support within a familiar and trusted school environment, we help families access advice and guidance more easily and at the right time.

As part of our commitment to strengthening community links, we are working towards the Bronze Community‑Focused Schools Award. This reflects our ongoing efforts to build meaningful partnerships, open our school to the community and ensure our provision responds to local needs.

Throughout the year, we offer a range of practical and supportive workshops and drop‑in sessions for families, including:

• Cooking workshops, supporting families to prepare healthy, affordable meals
• Money management, helping families manage the stresses that finances can sometimes bring
• Monthly Citizens Advice drop‑in sessions, providing support with family matters, housing and benefits
• Families First drop‑in clinics, offering early help and guidance for families

We are also proud to be developing as a Flying Start hub, hosting regular termly workshops and sessions focused on early childhood development and family wellbeing. These include:

• Circle of Security sessions to strengthen parent‑child relationships
• Baby massage workshops, supporting bonding and emotional development
• Understanding behaviour workshops, helping families make sense of children’s emotions and behaviour

Our strong links with local businesses and community organisations enhance learning experiences and help raise aspirations by connecting children to the world beyond school. Through the year, we help families by providing:

Access to food support, including emergency food parcels supported by Hope Church and Chris Nottingham-Blaenau Gwent ‘Sustainable Food Coordinator’

Freshly washed and ironed pre‑loved school uniform, coats and shoes, ensuring all children come to school warm, comfortable and ready to learn

A minibus transport service, supporting children and families with attendance, access to school and engagement in their learning

We aim to create a welcoming, inclusive environment where families feel comfortable seeking support, sharing ideas and being actively involved in school life. These positive relationships help children feel safe, confident and ready to learn.

By opening our doors and working together, our school becomes a supportive hub for the whole community. Through our commitment to community engagement and our journey towards the Community‑Focused Schools Award, we continue to support our children, families and community to grow, learn and thrive together.
