Empowering Learners to Achieve and Flourish Together

Rhos Y Fedwen follows the Attendance Pathway approach to monitoring and raising attendance.

Why Attendance Matters at Rhos Y Fedwen Primary School

At Rhos Y Fedwen Primary School, we are committed to empowering learners to achieve and flourish together. Regular school attendance plays a vital role in making this vision a reality. When children attend school consistently, they benefit from a rich learning environment that supports their academic progress, personal development, and social well-being.

Poor attendance can limit a child’s opportunities to grow, learn, and connect with others. Missing school means missing out on key learning experiences, which can lead to gaps in understanding and lower achievement. It can also affect a child’s confidence and sense of belonging within the school community.

We believe every child has the right to a high-quality education, and we work in partnership with families and other agencies to promote excellent attendance. By attending school regularly, pupils are better equipped to reach their full potential and contribute positively to our shared journey of learning and flourishing.

Top Tips for Being on Time

  • Set a consistent bedtime routine to ensure your child gets enough sleep.
  • Use a reliable alarm clock and involve your child in setting it each night.
  • Establish a smooth morning routine.
  • Make sure your child has a healthy breakfast.
  • Prepare lunches, snacks, and school bags the night before.
  • Lay out uniform and shoes in advance.
  • Keep keys and essentials in a regular spot.

Why Being on Time Is So Important

  • It is a legal responsibility for parents and carers to ensure children attend school and arrive on time.
  • Children who arrive late miss important instructions and learning opportunities.
  • Regular lateness or early collection creates gaps in learning and disrupts progress.
  • Arriving on time helps children settle in calmly, connect with friends, and start the day positively.
  • Being late can make children feel embarrassed, anxious, or unsettled.
  • Late arrivals and early departures can disrupt the learning environment for others.
