Remembrance Sunday

Honouring Remembrance Sunday

On Sunday, our Head Boy and Head Girl proudly represented Rhos-y-Fedwyn Primary School at the local Remembrance Sunday service. This important occasion, held on the second Sunday of November each year, is observed across the United Kingdom to commemorate the contribution and sacrifice of British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and women during the two World Wars and in later conflicts.

By attending the service, our junior leaders joined the community in paying tribute to those who gave so much for our freedom. Their presence reflects the values of respect and remembrance that we uphold as a school.

Our Head Boy shared his thoughts on the day:
“It was an honour to be part of the service and to remember the brave people who fought for our country.”

Our Head Girl added:
“Wearing the poppy reminds us to never forget their sacrifice.”

Marking Remembrance in School
On 11th November, the whole school observed a two-minute silence to honour those who served and sacrificed. Learners in Nursery took part in creative activities to show their respect—they made their own poppies using clay and pebbles and also drew poppies, which they wore proudly throughout the day.

These activities help our pupils understand the importance of remembrance and the value of honouring those who gave their lives for future generations.
